Themed, multiplayer instrument for Meow Wolf
Objectives: Create a casually accessible, multiplayer instrument, simple enough for anyone to play, but filled with enough expressiveness and depth to enable deep musical collaboration, all within the “factory” and “power source” theme of the piece within the exhibit’s narrative.
Contributions: Design, 3D modeling, custom illuminated touch interfaces constructed around Sensel Morphs, custom illuminated drum controllers constructed around Akai MPD 218s, custom LED illumination system, laser cut steel panels, polycarbonate & acrylic windows, more custom controls and illumination with Teensy Arduino, interaction design with Cycling 74’ Max, sound design with Ableton Live, assembly and installation.
Status: Installation completed January 2021, exhibit opened February 2021.
